Abstract
The conception and design of interactive User Interfaces is an important challenge and permanently producing new requirements for designers, engineers and scientists. Special knowledge is needed for this process and expertise from different fields is involved. Interaction Design has become an essential task within Human-Computer Communication.
This thesis deals with different models and concepts that are fundamental for designing interaction in multimedia-systems. There are many possibilities for communication between humans and machines. Within this thesis they are called Interaction Paradigms. They affect the character of interactive systems.
A definition for Interaction Paradigm will be given according to the theories of scientists and experts in HCI. These facts are important for the design process and the following implementation. Therefore, Jef Raskin's concept of the Zooming Interfaces will be realized. For interaction, the principles of Gesture Based and Tangible Interaction are implemented in combination with an optical tracking system.
Within the following chapters different Interaction Paradigms will be presented and discussed. Additionally, the solutions and results of the process of implementation are shown.
